Dear Eagle Families,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! Whether you are joining the PLDMS community for the first time or are a returning family, we are so glad you’re here. I am honored to serve as your principal, and I look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child has a successful and enriching year.
As we reflect on last year’s accomplishments, we are proud to share that our students SOARed in the 2024-2025 school year. Our eagle scholars improved on-time attendance, continued to excel in math, ELA, and civics, and changed our culture to a thriving, student driven learning environment. Our school grade rose to a B, and this upward trend will continue as the impact of our fantastic teachers and staff work to support our students.
PLDMS continues to offer a variety of vibrant programs that allow students to explore their interests and develop real-world skills. Our thriving arts programs—including drama, band, and fine arts—continue to grow and shine, showcasing the incredible creativity of our students. We are also thrilled to launch a brand-new culinary program, led by a renowned local chef, giving students hands-on experience in the kitchen and introducing them to the world of culinary arts.
Our agribusiness program continues to teach students about sustainability and entrepreneurship, while our competitive robotics team develops critical thinking and technical skills that prepare students for the future. These opportunities reflect our ongoing commitment to providing engaging, high-quality learning for all.
Our dedicated teachers and staff have been hard at work over the summer, preparing for an amazing school year ahead. We are eager to welcome students back and start strong together.
Please make note of these important upcoming events:
I am deeply proud to lead this school and to work alongside such an incredible community of families, educators, and students. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let’s get ready to SOAR beyond expectations this year!
With Eagle pride, Dr. Karen Prentice Proud Principal of PLDMS
