Happy Summer to our Eagle families!

It is hard to believe, but we are halfway through the summer already! I hope you have found time to enjoy the sunshine, to make memories with your children, and to recharge. Here at school, we have been hard at work analyzing our performance from last year. We have a lot to celebrate, and we are building the foundation for a fantastic year in 24-25!

School grades are not out yet, but we are happy to report that our students in civics, algebra and geometry knocked it out of the park again. Congratulations to all of them, and to our exceptional teachers. Our fine arts department is gaining an additional art teacher to complement the award-winning work of Ms. Mills and her students. We also have a new chorus teacher coming to us all the way from Colorado! He and his family have been eagerly looking forward to the move and to joining our team. With the retirement of our culinary arts instructor, we are excited to add a new option to our STEM electives with Agriscience. If your child has not yet selected his or her electives, please have him or her log in through their FOCUS account and get those in! Dr. Fitzpatrick is hard at work finishing our master schedule.

Dress code will remain the same as it was with the following exception: students may wear sweatshirts if they are a solid color, without large words or large graphics. The dress code can be found here: https://cdnsm5-ss18.sharpschool.com/UserFiles/Servers/Server_690964/Image/dress%20code%20copy.jpg

Many of you are new to the Eagles here, and I’d love the chance to meet you. I am holding a Coffee with the Principal on Thursday, July 25. Feel free to come join me to hear a little about the plan for your child’s year, and to ask whatever questions you have. This will take place twice, first 8:00-9:00 am and again 5:00-6:00 pm to offer an option of times.

Early Eagles, a program for our incoming sixth grade students, will be held on July 31st from 9:00 to 12:00. Students are invited to come and spend a day with some of our sixth-grade teachers, learn the ins and outs of PLDMS, and conquer those first day jitters with their new friends. Please call the school to register.

This year we want to have more parents and community members involved on our campus. We have opportunities for membership and leadership in our PTO and SAC meetings, which will be held at 6:00 pm on 9/12, 11/14, 2/20, and 5/1. Please put those dates on your calendar! We are asking for parents and guardians help with student celebrations, mentor groups, teacher and staff appreciation, and volunteer opportunities in athletics and activities. Thank you for being part of our Eagle family.

One last date to add—August 9th is our Open House, from 5:30-7:30 pm. Put it on your calendars! More information will follow in the next two weeks.

Thank you again for allowing us to partner with you in helping our eagles SOAR this year!

All best,

Dr. Karen Prentice
